The benefits of LEDs

Our LEDs have been specifically developed to replace energy-hungry lights with a like-for-like brightness. Widespread use will lead to a major change in the way we think about lighting and massive energy savings.

Our LED products will last up to 50,000 hours - about 50 times longer than a 60 watt bulb, which is more than six years if on constantly. We use CREE 'super' chips in our lamps - the brightest on the market. Many environmental experts agree that LED lighting is the way forward as the ultimate energy efficient lighting choice in the public and private sector. Our LEDs are the cleanest and greenest light source you can find. Links thru

Our products are second generation LEDs and beyond. They house single 'super' chips to deliver powerful light output from spotlights to tube lights to floodlights.

They've come a long way...

LED lights offer dramatic savings, long lifespan, extremely low power consumption - and fantastic quality light. They've come a long way since the alarm clock displays of the '60s. Discover how LED lights have evolved and how they're changing the way we can light our world - inside and out - forever.

History of LEDs

LEDs were first around in the 1960s in alarm clocks, calculators and display panels in electronic equipment. They have since been adapted for many uses including traffic lights, brake lights, reading lights, garden lights and swimming pool illumination.

For a long time LEDs were not used as a sources of illumination because they could not produce white light, only red, green and yellow. In 1993, a Japanese company revolutionised everything. It started producing blue LEDs: combined with red and green, this produces white light. A whole new field opened up for the technology.

There are several types of LED lights available and Dot-Cluster LEDs are the most widely available on the UK high street. These emit light using many tiny LEDs in clusters. Although each individual LED is dim, they emit enough light in a cluster to provide ambient lighting in your garden, for instance, or to create a mood. This type of mini-LED is used in Christmas or fairy lights. Dot Clusters do not provide functional lighting as they lack brightness, and are priced accordingly.

Quality light output

LEDs are based on semi-conductor technology, just as computers processors are. They therefore are constantly increasing in brightness, energy efficiency and longevity - the LED capability is evolving at an incredibly fast pace. Previous generation LEDs were used for ambient lighting to create moods and enhance areas with different colours, but not for their light output. Until now.

The effectiveness of an LED light is dependent on its components. For example, the brightness of the light emitted, the ability to dissipate the heat (its heat sink) and the quality of the chip and driver, which ultimately allows it to be consistent in output and last for so long.

Our products are second generation LEDs and beyond. They house single 'super' chips to deliver powerful light output from spotlights to tube lights to floodlights.
